
Dale Thomas
Dale originally from Hamilton, has two Deaf parents and New Zealand Sign Language was his first and primary language growing up. Dale took this experience and turned it into a career, graduating from AUT with a Bachelor of Arts,majoring in New Zealand Sign Language and English Interpreting back in 2016.
Dale made his theatre debut with Auckland Arts Festival’s 'Shortland Street - The Musical’ in 2017.Later that same year he interpreted Glen Eden Playhouse’s ‘Sunset Boulevard’ and the Flying Fruit Circus performance of ‘Junk’.
In 2019, Dale was one of the two interpreters involved with the international musical production of Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ at the Civic and team-interpreted the highly interactive performance of ‘Mrs Krishnan’s Party’, by Indian Ink.
Since then Dale has gone on to interpret shows such as The Long Day's journey into Night , The Santa Claus Show
, Writer Festival events, Arts conferences and more.
Dale has also provided translation support for theatrical performances such as ‘West Side Story’ and ‘Rent’.
