Taryn Banks
Taryn Banks may be a recent NZSL Interpreting graduate, but she has a long connection with the Performing Arts industry. Taryn’s training in drama and acting began in childhood and continues to this day. Prior to her involvement with the Deaf NZSL community, she owned a production company creating bespoke creative corporate events.
As she began her journey to becoming a NZSL interpreter She has worked alongside Platform Interpreting NZ in the promotion of NZSL Interpreted and Deaf friendly theatre performances and the Arts for over 5 years.
She has also collaborated with Platform Interpreting NZ to support the Auckland Arts Festival, a variety of Auckland Council public events and countless theatre fixtures.
In 2020, Taryn became the Platform Interpreting NZ’s intern, where she interpreted for Auckland Arts Festival’s Gallery Tour of 'Transmission' at Object Space in Ponsonby. Taryn also interpreted the 'Street Art Walking Tour' in Glenn Innes.

The following year she was scheduled to interpret for Auckland Theatre Company’s productions of ‘Two Ladies’ and ‘Things That Matter’. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic these shows were cancelled just days prior to opening night.
